There are countless organizations, fellowships, and programs in Detroit taking innovative approaches to help this city rise from the ashes. The aim for this mixer, was to provide space for people from several of these groups and organizations to come together and talk about social innovation in the Motor City. We wanted this to be a space for networking, collaboration, and inspiration. Organizations and groups represented at the mixer included Brown University, Challenge Detroit fellows, Venture for America Detroit, D:Hive, and Chris Uhl of The Skillman Foundation.
We ventured to Slows BBQ for our group meal this evening. Notice the magnificent former train station in the background. For our Friday enrichment activity, it was such a treat to attend the community lunch that Green Garage hosts every Friday! Duke's Vice Provost, Dr. Eric Toone visited the DukeEngage Detroit program this week to meet the students and hear about their projects.
