During her 25 years in the city, she has connected with various communities through her years of service in Southwest Detroit. She worked with countless community and economic development projects over her time in Michigan and has built a tremendous network over her 25 years here. Since Janurary of 2019, Mayté has been serving small businesses in Southwest Detroit with TechTown’s 313 STRONG program as a bicultural business strategist.
313 STRONG is a customized support program for small businesses in the Hamtramck, Highland Park, and Detroit neighborhoods. The program supports owners of brick-and-mortar businesses with up to 12 hours of direct one-on-one coaching on how to understand, sustain, and strengthen business operations in neighborhood commercial districts. Whether business owners have remained open, reopened, or are determining how to best move forward with their business, 313 STRONG offers help and assistance. The staff are passionate and skilled professionals who are determined to provide support to stabilize, adapt, and remain active during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayté’s background and experience in working with a mix of different communities and economic development has allowed for a better understanding of the unique multicultural and bilingual circumstances of the Southwest community. She effectively connects with clients to help them successfully understand the stages of business, connect the dots, articulate their vision, setting short-term and long-term goals, and understand the importance of seeing the big picture while managing their businesses.

She ensures that she is fully understanding the scope and needs of others and works hard to best outline strategies that align with their goals and aspirations. She continues her work in goal and strategy definement, growth development, and network and resource distribution. Through her knowledge and understanding with various multicultural and bilingual communities, Mayté hopes to keep pursuing work that benefits her community and makes positive impacts regarding social injustices and challenges.
